    Mohammadreza Shahbazbegian is an Associate professor since 2023 at the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering of Tarbiat Modares University, Tehran, Iran. He possesses extensive knowledge in system analysis, with a particular emphasis on utilizing system dynamics in the field of transboundary water management. He has brought numerous innovative ideas in the realm of transboundary water management, such as the Hydropolitical Self-Organization theory, Hydropolitical System Archetypes, Negotiable Water, Morphology of Transition Pathways, and the more recent concept of Painted Water. His main publications in these respects entail 1- How to Incorporate System Archetypes into Water Conflicts Analysis:Application in Euphrates, Nile, Zambezi, and Lake Kivu Transboundary Basins, 2- Hydropolitical System Archetypes: Feedback Structures,Physical Environments, Unintended Behaviours, and a Diagnostic Checklist, 3- Hydropolitical Self-Organization Theory: System Dynamics to Analyse Hydropolitics of Helmand Transboundary River 4- Morphology of transition pathway matters: System dynamics to assess alternative livelihood policy towards groundwater sustainability and recently Painted WaterA Concept to Shape Water Negotiation Strategies in Shared River Basins. He has also led key international research projects on building Negotiation Support Models in international transboundary basins based on system dynamics. Serving as a central hub for water diplomacy in Iran, the Iranian Water Diplomacy Association (formerly known as the Iranian Hydro-politics Association) is established under the supervision of Dr. Shahbazbegian in 2021. The association, consisting of more than 200 regular and 100 experienced members from various scientific disciplines and communities related to water diplomacy, has been officially recognized by the Iran Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology and has been leading by Dr. Shahbazbegian since 2021.
