History
Considering the importance and necessity of training experts in the field of toxicology in the country and the appropriate record of some laboratories and faculty members in the field of medical-environmental and industrial toxicology, the proposal for the establishment of this major was offered in 2005 by Dr. B. Daraei, associate professor of toxicology-pharmacology and Dr. A. Allameh, professor of clinical biochemistry. The major was then approved by the University?s Education Council and eventually approved by the University?s Council on April 2005. Obtaining the Council for the Extension of Higher Educations approval, the Department announced its readiness for student admissions on 2007/10/20. The first group of the students joined the department in the first semester of 2007-2008 while 4 more students were also admitted to the faculty in the second semester of the same year. From the beginning until now, faculty members and students? efforts gained immediate recognition for the Department.
Our departments masters program in toxicology is a coordinated set of research and educational activities aimed at meeting the service-research needs of industries (pharmaceutical, chemical, food and ...), poison control and monitoring center, toxicology laboratories, forensic centers, research centers and toxin-related organizations. Graduates of this field are expected to have sufficient information on various aspects of toxicology at the general and advanced levels and respond to the needs of society in this field.
