History
Physiology is the scientific study of normal mechanisms, and their interactions, which work within a living system. This field of science studies different body systems, including nervous system, cardiovascular system, respiratory system, kidneys and urinary tracts system, digestive system, endocrine system, and reproductive system. The studies in this field range from investigating the molecular and cellular levels to the full body of the human body. The Departments educational programs are conducted within the frameworks of MSc and PhD in Physiology programs. Both programs have three semesters of theoretical modules.
After graduation, MSc students spend one year and Ph.D. students spend at least two and a half years on their thesis and dissertation. The Department, with Universitys support, organizes domestic and international training workshops. In Physiology Department, physiological research encompasses all physiological levels from molecular to cellular and systemic. The main concern in research, among the various topics, is on the nervous system encompassing topics such as synaptic plasticity, epilepsy, addiction, MS, and the cardiovascular system with issues of ischemia and diabetes. Most research in the Department is conducted in the framework of student dissertations and internships.
